Relay for Life

This weekend we had the Relay for Life up in St. Johns! The team raised just over $1500, and the relay total was $133,000.00.

Maebug's Ladybugs (our team) won an award also, the "Best Theme Award". Good job to everyone who helped put in time and effort.

Overall the weather was good, and we were all in good spirits. Anna (my almost two year old niece) got a little tired and had to go home, but she was back the very next morning.

We all logged how many laps we walked/ran, and while I have not received the total for the team, Amy and I put in about 16 miles together... and we felt it the next day. The great thing is that this event has helped us catapolt a more active lifestyle for us. We both felt good about walking, and do anticipate a more active lifestyle.

To me, the greatest time was just being able to spend time with family. I believe that family is important, and like anything in nature, it needs to be watered to grow. This event helped do that, and to me, it made it all worth while.

Layne, Mitch and I were so glad to be able to give something back, no matter how small. It meant the world to me, especially to be able to walk in honor of your Mom. It was a wonderful day, rain or no rain! And you're right; the best part of it all was being with family and friends, brought together by the love of one remarkable woman. Thank you and Amy both, your Dad, Jeremy and Becky, your Aunt Linda, and everyone else involved for including us in the day. It will be a very special memory for the rest of my life. - Donna
