Quick Update

Just a quick update for everyone. Things are going well here. I am still tearing down the old deck so that I can rebuild it up next to the house. My dad and I got the boat polished up, it will no longer be able to tip over because of the special polish we put on it...

We are planning on going to Washington D.C. soon, Amy and I both are looking forward to it. It will be her first time there. We plan on going to many different memorials and monuments. We are hoping to hear back from our Congressman, because we would like to go to the top of the Capitol bldg.

The boys are doing well, they are getting weighed today, but I know Dodger is about 100 lbs. I imagine Kodiak is the same or more.

I am trying to get back into the habit of updating this more, it can be difficult at times though.

Relay for Life

This weekend we had the Relay for Life up in St. Johns! The team raised just over $1500, and the relay total was $133,000.00.

Maebug's Ladybugs (our team) won an award also, the "Best Theme Award". Good job to everyone who helped put in time and effort.

Overall the weather was good, and we were all in good spirits. Anna (my almost two year old niece) got a little tired and had to go home, but she was back the very next morning.

We all logged how many laps we walked/ran, and while I have not received the total for the team, Amy and I put in about 16 miles together... and we felt it the next day. The great thing is that this event has helped us catapolt a more active lifestyle for us. We both felt good about walking, and do anticipate a more active lifestyle.

To me, the greatest time was just being able to spend time with family. I believe that family is important, and like anything in nature, it needs to be watered to grow. This event helped do that, and to me, it made it all worth while.

Another Hat in the Ring

If we didnt have enough people running for the Presidency, and if we havent already got enough out, we have yet another tossing in his hat.

His name is Bob Barr, a former member of the House of Reps, representing Georgia's 7th district. He has worked under the Reagen era, and is currently working in a law firm, and acting as a consultant. While in office, he was in the Republican party.

He now runs as a Libertarian, and like everyone, he is "in it to win it". (story here) He says he is against big government, and big spending, a Habeas Corpus believer (to mean he believes our freedoms are being slowly revoked), and has many concerns about our border and security.

You can learn more about him at his website http://www.bobbarr2008.com/

If you have something to add about him, please provide your resource.

Russia and the Nukes Parade

Marching bands and 8,000 troops goose-stepped across the square, followed by a huge display of heavy weapons including Topol-M ballistic missiles and T-90 tanks, and a fly-by of warplanes.

Reviewing his first parade as commander in chief, Medvedev warned against "irresponsible ambitions" that he said could spark war across entire continents.

Alongside the new president was his mentor and now prime minister,Vladimir Putin, standing under bright sunshine in a tribune in front of Lenin's Mausoleum, the Soviet holy of holies that was screened off by a giant hoarding inscribed with May 9, 1945.

In an apparent attack onUS foreign Policy and Western backing for Kosovo's independence, Medvedev also criticised "intentions to intrude in the affairs of other states and especially redraw borders."

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Thursday dismissed the move as "just the usual tit for tat" in response to Washington's expulsion of a Russian spy.

Tensions with the United States have been particularly high over Russia's pro-Western neighbor Georgia, which has received US backing for its bid to join the NATO military alliance.
